Upstate New York-based Aspen Dental has found a 200,000-square-foot home in the new, 19-story Thor Equities tower in the West Loop.
The dental practice management corporation recently signed off on a lease to occupy at least eight floors in the location currently being constructed at the site of the old Isaacson & Stein Fish building in Fulton Market at 800 W. Fulton Market St. Block Club Chicago reports that Aspen, which provides business and administrative support to hundreds of independent dental practices throughout the U.S., is planning to use the new location as a Midwest headquarters.
The lease extends 14 years and makes Aspen owners of nearly half of the building’s 400,000-plus square feet of office and retail space. Earlier this year, the Chicago City Council approved the Thor Equities tower despite concerns expressed by residents about added congestion and pedestrian safety.
Developers broke ground on the site, being built on a block-long locale bound by Green, Fulton Market, Wayman and Halsted streets, in October, with the Skidmore, Owing & Merrill-designed project expected to be completed by spring of next year.
In addition to Isaacson & Stein Fish market, the site was once home meatpacker Morreale Meat and the Mid nightclub.
