West Central Association Chamber of Commerce in Chicago issued the following announcement on Sept. 15.
FLATS provides amenity-rich apartments with a motto of "Big Style in Smart Spaces". The Duncan is a 260-unit apartment building which renovated the historic Near West Side YMCA, preserving features like the original basketball court and mosaic tiles pool and introducing a layer of hospitality with the FROTH cafe, which is open to the public and shares seating with the lobby and courtyard. Why the West Loop?
The West Loop is a blend of old Chicago with its wealth of industrial structures mixed with the new wave of technology companies and wrold-class bars and restaurants.
What are your top challenges in growing your business?
COVID has presented a significant challenge in targeting new renters in the city.
Why did you join the West Central Association?
To connect with small businesses in the West Loop to promote to our residents, and partner with like-minded groups to co-promote our products and services.
What makes your business unique?
The Duncan is a building that people have likely walked past and were curious what was under development. Because the building is not only providing apartments but actually is a hub for community, we hope that West Loop neighbors come by and check out the lobby, cafe, and hopefully next spring can enjoy a movie in our common lawn.
What gets you up in the morning?
To strive to always be better.
What’s your favorite part of the West Loop?
I love biking along the Hubbard Street Murals.
What does the future look like?
Hyper-local commerce; improved walkability and transportation in our neighborhoods;
