Chicago loves baseball. From the first professional team in the 1870s until the present day, baseball is a vital part of the city's fabric. Nestled in neighborhoods and presented on an international stage, its teams and events, both famous and infamous, make baseball one of the most interesting and entertaining aspects of Chicago history. Join Dr. Kevin Kaufmann to hear about some of the highlights and lowlights of Chicago baseball history and wear your team baseball cap or jersey.
Kaufmann is a staff member and part-time instructor at Loyola University Chicago focusing on United States history, especially cultural history. He has taught the "History of Baseball" at the Newberry Library and currently teaches a course focusing on the history of medicine and science in the United States.
